IBA began its existence in 1986 as a spin-off of the Cyclotron Research Center of the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL), which produced its first cyclotron in 1947.

The objective was to leverage on our unique expertise in particle accelerator technology to meet growing needs in the fields of radiopharmaceuticals & radiotherapy.

Successful listing of IBA on the Brussels stock market from an initial public offering in June 1998 enabled IBA to accelerate progress by internal growth and the acquisition of other companies, all offering technologies and services reinforcing or complementing IBA’s core competencies.

The company head office is located in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium while the Asia Pacific Headquarter at Beijing.

In 2007, IBA China set up its production, R&D, sales and marketing presence in Asia to better serve our existing customers. We have since grown to 140 employees in May 2009, growing rapidly to meet the demand in Asia Pacific market.

IBA activities in China can be traced back more than 20 years. We are present with Particle Therapy, Molecular Imaging and Industrial Applications. In 2004, IBA China was set up to accentuate our presence in the market and close follow up with our Asian customers.
